IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!

The life Tamiqa Chanell Taylor cut tragically short...

Lauri has recently begin a nationwide mentoring program to assist women in starting their own "Teen Project like" homes or drop in centers. Believing that if we all get together we can attack this problem from all sides, they started to meet monthly.

About two months ago, Lauri was contact by Belinda Strachan who had always dreamed of opening a drop in center for at risk youth. The name of the shelter she imagined would be called "My Brother's Keeper. Inspired by her aspirations to help our youth - she has been communicating with Lauri to get started.

On October 10th, Lauri received an email from Belinda stating that her beautiful 26 year old daughter, Tamiqa Chanell Taylor had been killed on October 4. Ready to get her life on track, Tamiqa had just relocated to live with her aunt four weeks prior and enrolled in Everest University. Just after her arrival at her new home, Tamiqa met a young man, Wilkins Merilan, who lived in the area and they started dating.

On October 4th, drug dealers broke into Merilan's house and tortured and opened fire on the people in the home. Tamiqa and Dustin Freeman, who was also visiting at the home, were killed. Merilan was tortured and shot, but survived. Merilan also had a 3 year old daughter (Winter Princess) who was in the home at the time. Tamiqa was with her when the tragic event broke out. In her last few minutes of life, the survivors said Tamiqa was holding Winter, quietly rocking her and repeating "go to sleep baby, go to sleep.." When they lifted Tamiqa body, they found the baby alive and safely protected beneath her.

Her mother tells us she loved children. She was drawn to them. Even in her Tamiqa's final moment of life, she protected the life of a child.

The Teen Project will be accepting donations for Belinda Strachan to begin bulding her dream shelter, now renamed "My Sister's Keeper" in the memory of her daughter's short life and her protection of children.

Please send any donations meant for this purpose to the address above with a memo - "MY SISTER'S KEEPER" noted on the DESCRIPTION.
